Surprise~

I got a delightful surprise yesterday! A Christmas Card from across the USA! (well almost across!) It's further up north than ever I've been anyway! It's the most adorable card ever!....one that makes you want to hug it!

This card is from a special friend who holds a special little place in my heart. A friend who has been a trooper this year and who has the biggest heart THAT side of the Mississippi (wink wink!) A friend who is going to make ONE AWESOME mother one day....I have faith!

Thought I'd share that nice surprise of mine with you all...I received lots of Christmas cards and feel bad that I wasn't "up" to it enough to get my cards out this year! My hubby & I didn't even get a chance to take pics together...which is something we've been wanting to do while I'm "loaded up" ....memories for the tweenkies....and if we're EVER going to do it, it needs to be done before I look as big as a HOUSE~!

22 weeks

It takes courage to show your dreams to someone else.-Erma Bombeck

Ah....22 weeks. What else can I say? Feelings these days are more and more contentment. As I get closer to "safe" I can let myself *and my imagination* run wild with thoughts of having 2 children.

Babies this week:
Your baby is approximately 9 inches long and weighs a whole 14 ounces.

Your baby has pretty much taken on the form of a newborn baby, but is incredibly small. Much development will continue to occur over the next 18 weeks. His or her skin appears wrinkly, but this is because he/she has not yet gained enough weight to fill the skin out. The lips are becoming more distinct. The eyes have completely formed, but the iris (the colored portion of the eye) still lacks pigment. The eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and the pancreas is continuing to mature.

Christmas went well this year with one exception, Hubby was sick. He's been sick since Wednesday, Dec 21st. Refuses to go to the doc of course. His weight scale never made it in......darned the web company or the usps? who knows....this ALWAYS happens when I order online...and yet I haven't learned my lesson!

Christmas is almost here....

Christmas is just around the corner. I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday season---or politically incorrectly "Merry Christmas!" I grew up with Christmas as the warm wishes we all shared...hate to see that go out the window but we must accomodate everyone and their appropriate Holiday, whether Kwanza, Hannukah (sp?) etc....

And while some are still on their quest, I must share that although we're closer to our goal of becoming parents, we're still not there just yet. I can only encourage you all to stay the course, stick with your plan, never abandon your dreams. It seemed like I would do just that many times....and in the end I resolved to plow forward.

The mind is a powerful tool...use it.
Meditation is a method, a means by which you can use your mind to your advantage...Feel your goal. Smell it. Touch it. Reach out and hold it. It will be yours.

May God Bless you all this Holiday season. Stay safe friends.

Babies this week:
Babies move around a lot at this time, and they are not settled head down (the usual position for birth) for some time yet. Large meals may make you feel uncomfortable. This might carry on for the rest of your pregnancy. Aim to eat smaller meals more often! You may find your breathing is affected a little by your growing uterus - extra effort may leave you slightly breathless. This is because your uterus is pushing against your diaphragm, leaving less space for your lungs. Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby. {I.am.pregnant.com}

Daddy & I went and registered this weekend at Target. Short and painless. It was weird....seeing all the things that one day may end up in our home. Baby stuff. Being together 13 years and married over 7, we have never had "baby" stuff in our home. The closest we've gotten is pet stuff, newborn puppy stuff and then the small tokens (stuffed animals) that we purchased right after our 1st pregnancy.... Other than that, this is definitely a DINK home. Double Income No Kids...all adult stuff....that will soon change I hope.... then we'll have a "Married with Children" home...ok so that is way not cool. that makes Hubby Al Bundy and me, PEG!!!!

20! 20 weeks!

I'm starting to feel like the Count on Sesame Street....except no thunder and lightening when I count!

The babies!
Fetus becomes more active, turning from side to side and sometimes head over heels. Fingernails have grown to tips of fingers. Fetus sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. Fetus has a month of rapid growth. At the end of the 5th month, fetus is 8-12 inches long and weighs 1/2 to 1 pound

19 weeks!

I've made it past the hump! I'm now on the down slope to motherhood. Approximately 18 weeks to go, though I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll be delivering somewhere around 35-36 weeks! so about 16 to 17 weeks remaining!

Pics of me @ 19 weeks. Hubby loves taking the pics, but doesn't pay attention to where he's aiming & it didn't help that I was blinking!! LOL!

Our babies:
Your baby weighs about 9 ounces (260g) and measures about 5.6 to 6.4 inches (14 to 16cm) from crown to rump.
Her skin is thickening and developing multiple layers- the epidermis and the dermis, the deeper layer where it will form fat. Your baby is now also developing a waxy protective coating for her skin called vernix caseosa. The vernix protects your baby's skin which is continuously submersed in amniotic fluid. Vernix, which is particularly thick around the eyebrows is held in place by tiny downy hairs called lanugo.
Your baby can now grip with her fists. Toenails and scalp hair are growing.
At this point, it may be possible to determine the baby's sex by ultrasound, if the baby cooperates, but the ultrasound technician will rarely guarantee the sex based on the ultrasound results as mistakes are sometimes made at an early ultrasound.

You can hear the baby's heartbeat with a Doppler ultrasound device or a stethoscope.

We've been listening to heart beats since about 9 weeks preggers! LOL! Tomorrow is THE big day, finding out whether we have 2 boys or a boy & a girl....da da dum!
